“RAGBRAI, or the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa, is an annual seven-day bicycle ride across the state. Heading into its 41st year, RAGBRAI is the oldest, largest and longest bicycle touring event in the world.”

Simply put, RAGBRAI is a one of a kind event bringing bicycle riders from all 50 states as well as many foreign countries together to enjoy all Iowa has to offer. Starting on Iowa’s western border on the Missouri River, the tour takes you through gently rolling plains, never ending cornfields, quaint small Iowa farming communities, and through river valleys before depositing you on the eastern edge of Iowa on the grand Mississippi River. The route changes every year, but typically the route is around 450 miles long.

In 2008 I seized the opportunity to ride my first ever RAGBRAI. This year…I’m going to run it.

During RAGBRAI 2013, Richard Kresser will attempt to run the entire length of RAGBRAI, 423 miles including the Karras Loop, day to day alongside the bikers. In its 40 year history, RAGBRAI has never been ran in completion.
