RAGBRAI: Day 5

As told to Carolyn Kresser:

Well, today turned out better than I thought it would!  At the end of Wednesday’s run, I was the most tired I’ve been since I started this run, and I was worried about what that would mean for the final three days.  But, when I got up this morning, my body felt alright, and I felt really good the whole way today.

The only time I felt a bit discouraged today was the last couple miles into Oskaloosa, since it seemed it was 52 miles to the edge of town, but then took a couple more miles to run to the town center!  So I felt like the end just would not come!

But we got to run through some really scenic areas today, so overall it was a good day.  And I’m finding that more and more people are familiar with what I’m doing, so I’m getting more supportive comments than I am the “you’re crazy, what are you doing?!  comments, so that’s good!

I finished today’s run just before 6pm, and was happy to do another live interview with the RAGBRAI folks, and my mom even got in on this one!

I still haven’t seen any rain along the route, but I’m hopeful that the forecast tomorrow is calling for isolated showers.  I’ll be back out on the course around 4am.  With only two days left, I’m getting really excited to see the Mississippi!
